Pretty good for restaurants looking to save!

Last week I was checking out ChowNow's offerings for a local restaurant and I'm pretty impressed with their directStore option. It seems like a solid way for businesses to avoid those hefty commission fees from other apps like DoorDash or Uber Eats. The only slight drawback is that integrating with Toast requires a bit more setup than I'd ideally like, but overall, it's a great value.

Decent app, smooth delivery

Needed a quick dinner after work, so I opened up the ChowNow app. Found a diner nearby that had pretty good ratings. Placed an order for a burger and fries. It was super easy to do, just a few taps. The delivery driver was on time, and the food was still warm. No complaints, it did the job and I got my food without any fuss. Will probably use it again when I'm feeling lazy.

First order discount worked

I saw ChowNow offered $5 off for first-time users, so I gave it a shot. Ordered a large pizza. The discount applied fine at checkout, which was nice. Saved a few bucks right off the bat. It made the price feel a lot better for trying out a new delivery service. The pizza arrived on time too. For the price I paid, it felt like a good deal. Definitely worth it with the savings.

Good local food, easy ordering

I used the app for the first time to order from a new Thai place downtown. The ordering process was pretty straightforward, found what I wanted quickly. Delivery took about 45 minutes, which was within the estimated time. The food arrived hot and exactly as I ordered it. I had a quick question about a past order (wrong item, not this one) and their support chat was helpful, got it sorted out. Overall, a solid experience for getting food delivered.

My promo code isn't working for some reason. Is there a minimum order or something I'm missing?

R Rachel Doyle 1 month ago
Could be a minimum, yeah. Or sometimes they're only valid for certain restaurants or for a limited time. Check the fine print.

I've had that happen. Sometimes they're for first-time users only, or maybe it expired. Double-check the conditions if you can.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows if ChowNow usually has a first-time user discount? Trying to order from that new Italian place.

C Colin G. 2 months ago
Yeah, they usually do. I got $5 off my first order a few months back when I downloaded the app.

Is ChowNow actually commission-free for restaurants or is that just marketing speak?

N Nina H. 2 months ago
From what I understand, for the restaurants it's a subscription model, not per-order commission like DoorDash. So yeah, seems legit commission-free for them.

My buddy owns a restaurant and uses them, he says it's flat fee. That's why he switched from Uber Eats.

How's the delivery service with ChowNow? Is it their own drivers or does it depend on the restaurant?

I Ivy 2 months ago
It can be either! Some places use their own staff, some use ChowNow's delivery network. Just depends on the restaurant's setup, I think.

Yeah, my last order from 'The Burger Spot' was definitely their own delivery guy, not a ChowNow uniform.

Thinking of signing up my restaurant. Does ChowNow integrate with Toast POS? Or would I have to get a separate tablet?

L Lisa Q. 1 month ago
They definitely integrate with Toast. My old place used them together, made things pretty smooth.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain they do. Seems like they're pretty good with common POS systems.
